  • The film making processes include three main types. And these three processes include blowing film process, casting film process, two-way drawing process.

Although bags have different shapes, different styles and different uses. But these bags are all from blowing film process. And blowing film refers to the process that melts the raw material particles and then blows them into a film. First of all, it will extrude the polymer into a tubular film blank. And the second, it will blow the tubular film to the required thickness through high pressure air. Then the third, it will become a film after cooling and shaping. So this process is suitable for bag making.

If we use new material to blow film, the color will be clean. And if we use old material to blow film, the degradation rate will be faster. So the quality is not as good as the new material.

Casting film process include following five steps:
    • Firstly, it will plasticize and melt the raw material through the extruder.

    2) Secondly, it will extrude the raw material by the T-shaped forming mold.

    3) Thirdly, it will extend to the roll surface of the rotating cooling roller.

    4) Fourthly, it will cool and shape the film on the cooling roller.

    5) Fifthly, it will roll the product up after traction and trimming.

Besides, casting film process can produce winding film and cling film. And winding film can fix winding packaging of bulk goods. So it can achieve the purpose of fastening, dustproof, oil proof, moisture-proof, waterproof. And cling film is suitable for the packaging of fresh food. Because it can prevent food contamination and loss of nutrients.

The early stage of the two-way drawing process is approximate to the casting film process. But at the last stage, it added preheating, longitudinal drawing and transverse drawing.

Usually, two-way drawing process produces PLA high permeability film. So it’s suitable for packaging candy, books, magazines, electronic products, fresh flowers, etc.

Besides, compostable films are suitable for fixed winding packaging of goods. Because compostable films can form oxygen and moisture barrier to moistureproof and waterproof.

  • Q1:What are compostable films?

  • A1: Compostable films are a type of film from biodegradable and compostable materials. And these materials include polylactic acid (PLA), starch blends or other plant-based materials. So compostable films are can break down naturally in a compost environment. And it will leave behind no harmful residue or pollutants.

They are suitable for a variety of applications including food packaging, bags and other products. And they are very strong and durable, yet flexible and lightweight. So it makes them ideal for a range of uses. And some products are with special features like oxygen barriers and moisture resistance. So they can ensure food fresh for longer.

  • Q2: What are the benefits of using compostable films?

  • A2: One of the main benefits of compostable films is their sustainability. Unlike traditional plastic films, which can take hundreds of years to decompose. And plastic can pollute the environment as well. But compostable films break down naturally over time without causing harm to the environment. So this makes them eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics. And they can help to reduce waste and pollution.

Overall, advantages of compostable films are compostable and degradable. And they can break down into natural elements through a process of decay. So compostable films can help reduce waste and environmental impact. And they can break down into natural materials when disposed of in a composting environment. Because they are from renewable resources reducing reliance on non-renewable fossil fuels.
